NWA Startimpuls

This is one of the directions within the 3-year 'Startimpuls' grant, awarded to NWA route ‘Measuring and Detecting’. Researchers from various fields including measurement, behavior, data analysis and health, are investigating personal health status in relation to human behavior and environment.

Contaminated air increases the risk of conditions such as irritated airways, chronic ones respiratory disorders, cardiovascular diseases, lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, and asthma. A multidisciplinary research team (Radboud University, University Utrecht, UMC Utrecht and TNO) proposed to relate chemical pollutants in the open air, as well as indoor air, to metabolic processes associated with healthy and diseased individuals.
