Marleen Huisman

My name is Marleen Huisman and I just finished my Master's in Molecular Sciences within the specialization of Medicinal Chemistry. For my internship thesis I worked on the F2F project at the Chemometric department, in which I gained useful MATLAB skills. For my literature thesis, I wrote about the infestation of poultry red mites and their specific odours, together with Pascalle Deenekamp. From September 2024 onward, I started my first job as Junior Researcher in within the Life Science Trace Detection Laboratory.

During my studies, I was always buzzy with school in my free time, so now I have a lot of spare time after work. Luckily, there are enough things to keep me buzzy. During spring and summer, you can find me, most of the time, in the marina in Maasbommel where our boat is located. The best things to do then are swimming, sun bathing, reading, and enjoying life. During winter times I am more a cozy kind of person with a good cup of tea, a book, a movie, or crocheting blankets to keep me warm. I have always hated reading until I came across the books of Stephen King. Now I am addicted to it, and read about 35 books a year (just for fun).

During vacations, you can either find me on our boat(s) in Sneek (Friesland), or when I go abroad to a country with mountains, I am either on top, or inside the mountain with a (yellow) helmet and my photo camera. (Btw during the colder seasons, I always wear heals, so sorry for the noise in advance. And yes, I am a massive fan of Rammstein and Harry Styles (which is a contradiction according to their music styles))
